At Blue Horizons, we believe everyone should have the chance to feel the joy of riding a wave — and that’s why we offer four different ways to surf, including prone surfing.
If you find kneeling or standing on a board difficult but would like a little more independence in the water, prone surfing could be perfect for you!
🩵 So, what is prone surfing?
It’s a style of surfing where you stay lying down in a prone position on the board and steer by transferring body weight and if you’re feeling confident, you can try sliding onto your knees too.
Our prone surfboard is:
📏 8ft long x 24 inches wide
🧘♀️ Equipped with a comfy, sloped chest raiser for support
✋ Designed with 6 soft handles for steering and stability
🎯 Shaped to help keep you centred on the board
🧑🤝🧑 You’ll be supported by two (or sometimes three) of our friendly team in the water, depending on your needs. We’ll help you onto the board and even assist you with catching waves and be beside you the whole time to give you all the coaching tips you need.
✨ Whether you`re looking for a first taste of surfing or a new way to enjoy the waves, prone surfing is about building confidence, having fun, and feeling the thrill of the ocean — your way.

🚤🌊 A Truly Special Day on the Water 🌊🚤
On Friday, we were incredibly fortunate to run three unforgettable boat trips from the beautiful Tenby Harbour, giving local residents with additional needs and/or disabilities and their families the opportunity to enjoy some well-deserved time out on the water 💙
Across the trips, we were treated to a spectacular display of coastal wildlife — including puffins, guillemots, soaring gannets, and even Atlantic seals! 🐦🦭 It was a powerful reminder of just how breathtaking our Pembrokeshire coastline really is.
These trips were only possible thanks to the incredible generosity of our community:
✨ Tenby Boat Trips donated the boat and crew
✨ Our legendary captain gave his time voluntarily
✨ The Port of Milford Haven kindly supported fuel costs
✨ Volunteers hand-knitted hats to keep everyone warm
✨ And there was even fun, interactive wildlife-spotting to keep spirits high! 🧢🎉
We feel so grateful to live in a place where community support and kindness run just as deep as the waters that surround us. It’s not just the coastline that’s beautiful — it’s the people who make Pembrokeshire what it is.

🌊 Although tomorrow’s surf competition has been postponed, we’ve still got some good news! 🌞
Thanks to the support of @pembscoast , parking will be FREE at Manorbier Beach tomorrow (Saturday)! 🅿️💙
While you’re there, @tenbysurflifesavingclub will be collecting donations throughout the day , so please remember to bring some spare change and show your support for a local charity that means a lot to us here at Blue Horizons. 🙏
Who are Tenby Surf Life Savers ?
🏄♂️ They’re the amazing volunteers who provide lifeguard support at major events, giving up their time to keep our coastline safe.
💬 Last year alone, they gave 334 hours of cover, rescued 85 people, and helped eight more during their junior lifesaving sessions.
🌟 Their weekly kids’ sessions teach vital skills like first aid, water safety, and confidence in the sea — all run by volunteers!
🤝 They’ve been doing this incredible work since 1993, relying solely on donations, local sponsors, and the generosity of their community.
These are the people who keep our beaches safe — so let’s give back! 💛

In with the highs and out with a low! ☀️🌊
The sunshine has definitely shown up thanks to high pressure but unfortunately, the waves haven’t! The sea is looking flat, and we want to make sure the Tag Team Surf Competition is as fun as possible… and that means we need some proper surf!
To give us a better chance of more favourable conditions and knowing many of you may be away over the summer holidays, we’re looking to reschedule the event for September, with a few dates in mind.
We’ll be in touch with all competitors soon with the new date.

We’re inviting children and adults with additional needs-due to disability, illness, injury, or learning difficulties—to join us for inclusive surfing lessons and experiences in Pembrokeshire this year.
With a range of adapted surfboards, beach wheelchairs, and an experienced team, you can take part in a way that feels right for you, whether that’s giving surfing a go or simply spending some calm time in or by the sea 🌊
👫 We offer both sociable group sessions and quieter one-to-one support, depending on what suits you best.

A huge thank you to everyone who’s been getting behind the up and coming Tag Team Challenge, your support means the world to us!
With over 64 surfers signed up, we’re all set for an epic day! But it wouldn’t be a proper showdown without some quality waves. We’re doing everything we can to lock in a day packed with surfing, laughter, and celebration! 🎉
This Wednesday, the organising committee will meet with the team captains to make the final call for Saturday. As soon as we know, you’ll know, so stay tuned!
