Meet some of the Blue Horizons Team
Emma-Mary has been hooked on outdoor adventures and extreme sports since childhood. With 25 years of surf coaching under her belt, she’s also been a certified ski instructor, PE teacher, windsurf instructor, and ski rescuer in Scotland! (Basically, any job that lets her soak up the outdoors).
Her superpower? Noticing every flower and bird that flutters by, with a heart full of compassion and a love for life and people.
As a co-founder of Blue Horizons, Emma-Mary is living her dream of making surfing inclusive for all while spreading her passion for the great outdoors. She’s all about sharing the joy!

Meet Ollie, the co-founder of Blue Horizons, whose boundless energy and unwavering dedication ensure that our surf school is accessible to all.
Ollie is a qualified surf coach, adaptive surf coach and Beach lifeguard (and sometimes makes life a little brighter by also being an electrician)!
With a passion for surfing that rivals only his love for chocolate, Ollie’s knowledge of the Pembrokeshire coast, and his fun-loving, caring, and compassionate nature make him the ultimate surf coach for you.
Oh, and have we highlighted his mastery of “dad jokes” yet? Brace yourself for a tidal wave of fun with Ollie!

Becky’s love for all things ocean-related runs deep – not only is she a passionate surf coach, but she’s also a dedicated marine biologist.
When she’s not catching waves and spreading her surfing joy, you’ll often catch her exploring the wonders beneath the ocean’s surface or marveling at the vibrant life in Pembrokeshire’s rock pools. With her infectious enthusiasm, she’s an inspiring instructor both on and off the waves – and being around her is sure to get you excited too!
Oh, and did we mention she’s also a pro at crocheting? Sea creatures, of course!
(And let’s not forget – she’s behind 90% of the awesome photos we have! Credit where credit’s due!)

Ben’s journey with Blue Horizons began as a passionate volunteer for our inclusive surf projects, and now he’s on his way to becoming a fully trained ASI surf coach—how awesome is that?
Despite his busy schedule, Ben somehow manages to squeeze in some surfing time (you’ll often spot him emerging from the waves at daybreak).
But wait, there’s more! He’s also a co-founder of another cool venture, Pobl Tir Mor, a Pembrokeshire CIC dedicated to revitalising the area. Plus, he’s teaming up with Visit Pembs and similar groups for some epic community events. Ben’s the ultimate multitasker with a serious knack for making waves—in and out of the water!
With a lifetime of experience working with both kids and adults, Ben brings a sense of calmness and fun wherever he goes. Hang ten with Ben for a wave of laughter and adventure!

This funding will go towards two years of adaptive and wellbeing projects, helping us provide more inclusive, supportive opportunities for people in our community.

On Saturday we kicked off the Garden Party celebrations at Manorbier Beach with a brilliant, fun-loving surf crew 🌊
We had some first-time surfers, flying down the line with arms waving and big smiles all round and a few even found their feet to stand up for the very first time, such a special moment to watch.
A huge thank you to all the children who got involved and gave it a go and to the parents for their support on the beach, it really makes these sessions what they are.
We were also very well looked after afterwards with some delicious Cawl provided by @manorbierhouse and cooked by @tobypbw ....very much appreciated after a morning in the water!
And to top it all off, the beach was left looking absolutely sparkling thanks to @keepwalestidy and a brilliant group of enthusiastic volunteers who collected bags full of rubbish. It made such a difference and it was great to see everyone taking pride in the space we all enjoy.
As always it goes without saying we couldn`t do it without a great team of instructors and volunteers including @catiegaskell and @katiedesilvaphotography for the pictures ❤

We’ve always been about community and collaboration, so being alongside like-minded organisations who genuinely care about what they do feels like a perfect fit.
This is a group of people who know the coastline inside out - the right conditions, the right places and how to create really memorable experiences in and around the sea.

🌊💙Adaptive Surfing is Back💙 🌊
We are thrilled to announce the relaunch of our adaptive surf sessions, commencing on May 4th, with exciting updates to be shared later this week.
Our Adaptive Adults Surf Club, now in its 4th year, provides a supportive environment for neurodivergent adults and those with learning disabilities (18+) to build confidence, develop skills, and connect with like-minded individuals.

The magic of the sea 🌊
It’s hard to put into words… but stepping into the water can feel almost otherworldly. You go in one person and come out feeling completely different.
We see it with the kids all the time. After a full day at school, sometimes even double PE, arriving tired and low on energy… then suddenly they’re full of life again - smiling, laughing and splashing their friends as they catch waves together.
And it’s not just the kids. We all know that feeling. A long day, the weight of everything building up… then the sea washes over you. That moment the water hits your face, your senses wake up and you can’t help but smile, that deep breath of “I’m alive, and I can feel it.”
We’ve really missed being back in the water and after our first kids club of the year yesterday evening, it feels like home again.
We have a couple of spaces for the Saturday free session at the Manorbier Garden/Beach Party after a cancellation if you want to join us!

After the beach activities, we’ll head up to @manorbierhouse for the Garden Party, where The @manorbiercastleinn will be serving a free bowl of hot cawl, freshly prepared by local chef Toby Bradley, for all surfers and beach cleaners.
We’ll also be showing photos from the morning on the big screen before the main Garden Party celebrations begin.

For ages 8+, we focus on:

With a 4:1 surfer to instructor ratio, every session is supportive, safe and designed for quick progression.

💙 Blue Lagoon Community Event - Supporting Blue Horizons 💙
We’re really excited to be part of this fantastic community event at the Blue Lagoon Water Park, @bluestonewales on Tuesday 21st July (5:30pm–8pm) 🌊
After the success of previous events, the Bluestone Foundation are once again opening the Blue Lagoon to the local community for a series of special evenings raising funds for local causes - and this one is in support of Blue Horizons Coastal Adventure 🙌
It’s set to be a fun-filled evening for individuals, families and friends, all while helping raise vital funds that go straight back into supporting inclusive community surf projects here in Pembrokeshire 💙
A huge thank you to Bluestone for the incredible work they do bringing the community together through events like this - creating opportunities that are not only enjoyable but make a real difference locally.

🌊 Making Our Beaches More Accessible ♿ 🏄♀️
Thanks to the incredible support of South Hook LNG we’re excited to introduce two new pieces of equipment that will help make our coastline more accessible and give our surfers greater independence.
🏄♂️ Surfboard Trolley
Our new surfboard trolley helps adaptive surfers transport their boards across the sand and down to the sea with greater ease and independence. (Modelled by our very own Emma-Mary!) Small changes like this can make a big difference in helping people feel confident and independent on the beach.
♿ Motus Extreme All-Terrain Wheelchair
We also now have a Motus Extreme all-terrain wheelchair, designed to handle sand and uneven terrain. This wheelchair isn’t just for our adaptive surfing sessions, it’s also available for Pembrokeshire residents and community groups to use for beach visits, events, or days out.

💙 Donations make such a difference 💙
We are incredibly lucky to be surrounded by such a generous and supportive local community. This winter, several local companies and charities have helped us invest in fantastic new equipment that will make a real difference to our surfers in 2026.
A huge thank you to The Help Charity Shop in Johnston, who raised an amazing £400 towards much-needed accessible equipment - including a children’s transfer sling.
This vital piece of equipment enables wheelchair users to safely transfer onto a surfboard and experience the thrill, freedom and joy of surfing 🌊
And this is just the beginning…

• Brand new all-terrain wheelchairs
• A surfboard trolley to enable surfers to be more independent
(with thanks to LNG South Hook)
• A children’s seated surfboard
• Two specially designed kneeboards
• A new tandem surfboard
All of these boards are currently being crafted by the incredible @jpsurfboards — a bsolute legends 🙌
We’ve also got new wetsuits, boots, hats, and gloves for children arriving, kindly supported by @manorbiercastleinn , helping our surfers stay warm, comfortable and in the water for longer throughout the colder months (post coming soon!).
