Meet some of the Blue Horizons Team
Emma-Mary has been hooked on outdoor adventures and extreme sports since childhood. With 25 years of surf coaching under her belt, she’s also been a certified ski instructor, PE teacher, windsurf instructor, and ski rescuer in Scotland! (Basically, any job that lets her soak up the outdoors).
Her superpower? Noticing every flower and bird that flutters by, with a heart full of compassion and a love for life and people.
As a co-founder of Blue Horizons, Emma-Mary is living her dream of making surfing inclusive for all while spreading her passion for the great outdoors. She’s all about sharing the joy!

Meet Ollie, the co-founder of Blue Horizons, whose boundless energy and unwavering dedication ensure that our surf school is accessible to all.
Ollie is a qualified surf coach, adaptive surf coach and Beach lifeguard (and sometimes makes life a little brighter by also being an electrician)!
With a passion for surfing that rivals only his love for chocolate, Ollie’s knowledge of the Pembrokeshire coast, and his fun-loving, caring, and compassionate nature make him the ultimate surf coach for you.
Oh, and have we highlighted his mastery of “dad jokes” yet? Brace yourself for a tidal wave of fun with Ollie!

Becky’s love for all things ocean-related runs deep โ not only is she a passionate surf coach, but she’s also a dedicated marine biologist.
When she’s not catching waves and spreading her surfing joy, you’ll often catch her exploring the wonders beneath the ocean’s surface or marveling at the vibrant life in Pembrokeshire’s rock pools. With her infectious enthusiasm, she’s an inspiring instructor both on and off the waves โ and being around her is sure to get you excited too!
Oh, and did we mention she’s also a pro at crocheting? Sea creatures, of course!

Ben’s journey with Blue Horizons began as a passionate volunteer for our inclusive surf projects, and now he’s on his way to becoming a fully trained ASI surf coachโhow awesome is that?
Despite his busy schedule, Ben somehow manages to squeeze in some surfing time (you’ll often spot him emerging from the waves at daybreak).
But wait, there’s more! He’s also a co-founder of another cool venture, Pobl Tir Mor, a Pembrokeshire CIC dedicated to revitalising the area. Plus, he’s teaming up with Visit Pembs and similar groups for some epic community events. Ben’s the ultimate multitasker with a serious knack for making wavesโin and out of the water!
With a lifetime of experience working with both kids and adults, Ben brings a sense of calmness and fun wherever he goes. Hang ten with Ben for a wave of laughter and adventure!

๐๐ Have you ever tried prone surfing before?๐๐
At Blue Horizons, we believe everyone should have the chance to feel the joy of riding a wave โ and thatโs why we offer four different ways to surf, including prone surfing.
If you find kneeling or standing on a board difficult but would like a little more independence in the water, prone surfing could be perfect for you!
๐ฉต So, what is prone surfing?
Itโs a style of surfing where you stay lying down in a prone position on the board and steer by transferring body weight and if youโre feeling confident, you can try sliding onto your knees too.
Our prone surfboard is:
๐ 8ft long x 24 inches wide
๐งโโ๏ธ Equipped with a comfy, sloped chest raiser for support
โ Designed with 6 soft handles for steering and stability
๐ฏ Shaped to help keep you centred on the board
๐งโ๐คโ๐ง Youโll be supported by two (or sometimes three) of our friendly team in the water, depending on your needs. Weโll help you onto the board and even assist you with catching waves and be beside you the whole time to give you all the coaching tips you need.
โจ Whether you`re looking for a first taste of surfing or a new way to enjoy the waves, prone surfing is about building confidence, having fun, and feeling the thrill of the ocean โ your way.

๐ค๐ A Truly Special Day on the Water ๐๐ค
On Friday, we were incredibly fortunate to run three unforgettable boat trips from the beautiful Tenby Harbour, giving local residents with additional needs and/or disabilities and their families the opportunity to enjoy some well-deserved time out on the water ๐
Across the trips, we were treated to a spectacular display of coastal wildlife โ including puffins, guillemots, soaring gannets, and even Atlantic seals! ๐ฆ๐ฆญ It was a powerful reminder of just how breathtaking our Pembrokeshire coastline really is.
These trips were only possible thanks to the incredible generosity of our community:
โจ Tenby Boat Trips donated the boat and crew
โจ Our legendary captain gave his time voluntarily
โจ The Port of Milford Haven kindly supported fuel costs
โจ Volunteers hand-knitted hats to keep everyone warm
โจ And there was even fun, interactive wildlife-spotting to keep spirits high! ๐งข๐
We feel so grateful to live in a place where community support and kindness run just as deep as the waters that surround us. Itโs not just the coastline thatโs beautiful โ itโs the people who make Pembrokeshire what it is.

Who are Tenby Surf Life Savers ?
๐โโ๏ธ Theyโre the amazing volunteers who provide lifeguard support at major events, giving up their time to keep our coastline safe.
๐ฌ Last year alone, they gave 334 hours of cover, rescued 85 people, and helped eight more during their junior lifesaving sessions.
๐ Their weekly kidsโ sessions teach vital skills like first aid, water safety, and confidence in the sea โ all run by volunteers!
๐ค Theyโve been doing this incredible work since 1993, relying solely on donations, local sponsors, and the generosity of their community.
These are the people who keep our beaches safe โ so letโs give back! ๐

In with the highs and out with a low! โ๏ธ๐
The sunshine has definitely shown up thanks to high pressure but unfortunately, the waves havenโt! The sea is looking flat, and we want to make sure the Tag Team Surf Competition is as fun as possibleโฆ and that means we need some proper surf!
To give us a better chance of more favourable conditions and knowing many of you may be away over the summer holidays, weโre looking to reschedule the event for September, with a few dates in mind.
Weโll be in touch with all competitors soon with the new date.

A huge thank you to everyone whoโs been getting behind the up and coming Tag Team Challenge, your support means the world to us!
With over 64 surfers signed up, weโre all set for an epic day! But it wouldnโt be a proper showdown without some quality waves. Weโre doing everything we can to lock in a day packed with surfing, laughter, and celebration! ๐
This Wednesday, the organising committee will meet with the team captains to make the final call for Saturday. As soon as we know, youโll know, so stay tuned!
