Gear Guide: Seated tandem boards

Name: Seated Tandem Surfboard

We have two seated surfboards. The yellow board is 12 foot long and 2 foot wide, and the blue one is slightly smaller and used for small adults and children.

They both have a comfortable, sloped, Formula 2 race seat attached to the deck. Our team will either assist you in to the seat or we can use our transfer sling to comfortably take you from our all terrain wheelchair to the seated board.

Who is it for? 

The seated surfboards are perfect for people with limited mobility such as being unable to sit or stand unaided.

Who will be with you? 

Our seated surfboards run with a team of instructors and trained volunteers. We will have someone in the water near where the waves are breaking to help you catch the wave. When you are on the wave, an instructor will be on the board with you,steering the board along the wave.,  There will be water safety volunteers in the shallower water, ready to assist at the end of the wave.

What do you wear?

We will provide a wetsuit (and when it’s colder: gloves and boots). For seated sessions we also provide a buoyancy aid and helmet.

You just need to bring a towel, a swimming costume and if the sun is shining sun cream and water.
